Norman Bissell reports from the More Than Us symposium linking art and environment

Norman Bissell, director of the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics, recently attended the "More Than Us" symposium at Inverness on 29-30 November 2007. The symposium brought together a number of leading political, ecological and cultural commentators for "conversations between humanity, the arts and ecology". Catherine Murray reads from "Walk and Talk" by Tony McManus

At the launch of "The Radical Field" by Tony McManus at the National Library of Scotland on 10 October 2007, Tony's niece, actress Catherine Murray, read an extract from Tony's poem "Walk and Talk". An audio interview with Catherine, where she discusses the significance of Tony's work and reads from "Walk and Talk", can be downloaded from the Textualities website using the link below.

Kenneth White at the Ullapool Book Festival 10-11 May 2007

On Thursday 10 May at 7.30 pm in the Ullapool Village Hall Kenneth White will lecture on "New Perspectives on Scottish Literature". The name of Kenneth White is now generally associated with the opening up of a new field in Scottish thought. In this lecture he will provide a re-reading of certain Scottish writers, while touching on themes such as localism and globalism, poetics and philosophy, identity and creativity. Chaired by Donny O'Rourke.

On Friday 11 May at 3 pm in Ullapool Village Hall Kenneth White, who has been described as "Scotland's most original and challenging writer, academic and poet", will give a poetry reading. Chaired by Kevin MacNeil.
